Established in 1853, St. Helena is located in the heart of the Napa Valley. Its picturesque Main St., a major tourist attraction, is filled with specialty shops, a cinema, the local newspaper offices, and restaurants. St. Helena offers small-town life with a modern style, distinctly Western and sophisticated. Major Napa Valley wineries are located in St. Helena. Services and Shopping
Many specialty shops line Main Street, including clothing shops and bookstores. Steve's Hardware, Vasconi's Pharmacy are conveniently located on the same street. Several service stations and automobile repair garages are in the city. Safeway and Sunshine Foods offer excellent grocery selection but many folk like Kellar's Market with Ernie's Meat section. Medical doctors, dentists, and lawyers all have city offices. Home repair and appliance repair shops are conveniently located.
St. Helena has its own Fire Department and Police Department.
Entertainment St. Helena offers many activities. Two parks provide children's playgrounds and picnic facilities. The Cameo offers feature films in a small theater environment. Writer Ambroise Bierce once lived in this town and the TV show Falcon Crest used St. Helena locations for its fictional settings. Walt Disney and Francis Ford Coppola have both filmed movies here.
St. Helena is known for its famous Elm Tree drive. The trees were planted in 1880.
