Napa City Real Estate Information
The City of Napa was Napa County's first established city. Founded in 1848 by Nathan Coombs, Napa is the Napa Opera House--click for larger photographcounty seat of Napa County. It is a mid-sized town with wonderful weather, shopping, and good schools. If you like city living with plenty of neighbors Napa is a good choice. It's homes range from modern styles to Victorian masterpieces.
South Napa is expanding as industry moves in, finding the location ideal for business.
It is only a hour's drive to San Francisco or other major Bay Area cities. Napa Valley, to the north, with its wineries, historical sites, and other places of interest is even closer. Lake Berryessa is nearby, offering fishing water-skiing and boating.
Services and Shopping Napa offers shopping. Major supermarkets have stores in various easy to reach areas of the city. South Napa had seen the addition of new stores such as Target and Office Depot with plans for more stores.
County and City offices are located downtown. The Courthouse is nearby. The Senior Center provides services for seniors as well as activities. The Public Library, recently remodeled, has a fine selection of books, magazines and videotapes as well as computer technology for internet accesses. Napa College offers AS degrees as well as classes for anyone who wishes to improve their education.

The City of Napa has it own public bus transportation system--VINE.
Napa has its own Police and Fire Departments.
Entertainment Napa has many restaurants for dining. The Uptown and the Cinedome offer feature films. Napa College often performs stage plays in the Little Theaters and has film series and other activities. There are several other Napa Church--click for larger photographtheatrical organizations that present plays. The Napa Valley Symphony (707-226-6872) provides for those with tastes for classical music. Marlows offers various types of live music and dining as do several other establishments.
Napa has many parks and playgrounds for picnics and other activities. Kennedy Park allows Napa River access and has a golf course as well.

* Weather conditions: Yearly average temperature is 71 degrees. Summers can get hot. Winters can bring freezing temperatures. Rainy season lasts from November to March. Lately there has been heavy rains. It sometimes snows but usually not over a couple inches.
Did You Know?
Napa's Chinatown burned down in 1884. Only a plaque marks the spot.
The Napa river was used for transportation until the 1920s. Steamboats would go up the river as far as Third Street. One notorius boat that sailed the river was the Dolphin which, if anyone dared to lean over the side of the boat, the boat would tip over.
